Appearance: A tanned, attractive young man, with bright blue eyes and a mouth that easily lends itself to arrogant grins when he's in a good mood. His long blond hair is partially pulled up into a topknot, with a lock that sweeps down over the left side of his face, obscuring his left eye. This eye is typically kept closed when he isn't wearing his scope eyepiece or using its trained ability to see through illusions, presumably due to its sensitivity.
He may have a slight stature (166cm/~5'5") and somewhat androgynous appearance, but his slim build is still the toned and highly athletic one of a ninja; he's in good enough shape to put up a more than respectable fight toe-to-toe despite being a long-range combat specialist. He has a decidedly deep and masculine voice, and possesses the curious verbal tic of appending some of his statements with the affirmation 'un' (rendered as 'hmm/hmn' or 'yeah' in English.)
Deidara's truly unusual feature is the additional mouths he's acquired through the use of a stolen forbidden technique. Each of his palms is split by a mouth (complete with lips, tongue, and teeth) that he uses to infuse clay with chakra for creating his explosive sculptures. These handmouths are just as dexterous and sensitive as his natural one, albeit without possessing a sense of taste (headcanon.) He also has a larger mouth embedded in the upper left side of his chest, surrounded by tattooed seals; unlike the others this mouth is stitched shut and kept closed, most likely because it's used for his weapon of last resort, his massively explosive self-destruct technique.
Typically he wears the uniform of an Akatsuki member: A black cloak with a high collar, red trim, and a stylized red cloud pattern. On his brow he wears a ninja's headband that bears a metal plate emblazoned with the scratched-out symbol of his former home village, Iwagakure. Beneath his cloak he wears a sleeveless, cutoff blue shirt over a mesh undershirt. Around his waist he wears a white belt that holds a pair of zippered pouches for his clay over his hips, and below that, a pair of loose blue pants, white spats, and blue sandals. On his right index finger he wears his Akatsuki ring, a silver ring with a blue gem that bears the kanji "ao" (blue/green). His fingernails and toenails are painted black.
